Summer Camp

Before we begin our series on art and entertainment I thought I'd like to prime the pump - so to speak - with a bit of camp - just to get you in the mood. You can't get anymore campy. Well maybe you can....What I've noticed is that a lot of these stars will have a staircase on stage. I guess this is so that they will be seen to descend from above - come down to our world in order to entertain us - the god descends to be amongst us - while still maintaining separation from us. The audiences are filled with people dressing, dancing and moving just like the star, trying in some way to identify themselves as part of the faithful - part of the godhead. There is so much religiosity involved in the staging - the altar, the stairway, the light - additionally we have large broadcast screens that pump the image of the star to huge proportions - the image set free by the all consuming omnipresent lens. All of it designed to affect those lizard brain functions that we all carry around in our DNA. Finally - I really hate to do this, but I have to. The last video from a now convicted and disgraced individual. It seems a shame that so many follow in his campy artistic footsteps, but the power of makeup, staging and a motorcycle have not waned through the years. Artaud would be pleased In the end you get the entertainment (art) you deserve....Entertainment is diversion!
